July 8, 2020 in Arts, Notes

Nathan Wise reports:

Dean Pitchford (DC) was nominated for ‘Best Family Musical’ by the Off-Broadway Alliance Awards, for his brilliant show, The Big One-Oh (based on his 2007 novel),  which opened on September 28th to praise by The New York Times for its lively cast, engaging songs, and exciting use of puppetry. NATHAN WISE, family, and friends were in the audience for the opening, along with a major fan, Mr. Stephen Schwartz, who had created the show in which Dean made his New York debut in 1971 during his senior year (Godspell), followed by his performance in Mr. Schwartz’s next show, Pippin. (Mr. Schwartz has since gone on to write the score of another little show called Wicked!  Nathan says he owes his success to Dean!)”
