On June 8th Jan Roth and Leah Greenwald co-hosted a luncheon at Jan’s home. Seventeen women came from the city, Washington, Connecticut, and Boston. In attendance were Judith Albert, Deborah Bernick, Shirley Daniels, Leah Greenwald, Kay Hill, Jerylle Kemp, Ronni Mann, Lois Bender Merrill, Cathy Olian, Deborah Post, Eva Resnicow, Connie Royster, Lynne Rutkin, Jamie Stern, Nancy Weinstein, and Carol Whitehead. Carol Whitehead reported on the financial health of the scholarship she, Cynthia Brill, and Ann Linden spearhead: The Yale ’72 Women’s Scholarship Fund. Her report can be seen on the Yale Class of 1972, YaleWomen, and Yale Alumni Facebook Groups. Kay Hill posted pictures of the luncheon on our Class of 1972 Facebook Group (see below–CLICK ON EACH PHOTO TO SEE FULL IMAGE).
Initiated by Cynthia Brill and carried on by Connie Royster, a group of Yale Women of ’72 have been meeting for lunch twice a year for more than 15 years. At the luncheon, Connie Royster led a discussion on Yale’s plans for events to commemorate the 50thanniversary of Yale College Coeducation and the 150th anniversary of the admission of women to Yale programs. The celebration will begin on September 19, 2019. We discussed our support of a women’s archive project to capture as many of the stories of our class as possible through filmed interviews, so they are not forgotten. In addition to speakers’ panels, we discussed our interest in having breakout sessions at the commemoration, where we can share our amazing experiences at Yale in the first years of coeducation and our later-in-life contributions to Yale and society.
