Rob Bildner Reports on University Council Issues

March 30, 2013 in Notes

Our class secretary, Rob Bildner (DC), reports: “I thought our classmates might be interested to know that I am privileged to serve as a member of the University Council, which advises Yale’s president about a wide range of issues such as proposed changes in the curriculum and programs of Yale College and several graduate schools, creating a Yale liberal arts program in Singapore, developing West Campus and problems in student life. Along these lines, I was recently appointed to the University Council Committee on Alcohol in Yale College. While binge drinking is nothing new on campus and not just a Yale problem, our committee will be looking at the extent of the problem of student drinking at Yale and what Yale can do to alleviate the problems associated with it. We have prominent academic and public health experts from across the country who are sharing their expertise with us as we wrestle with this thorny problem. I hope our report will find some ways to reduce the extent and problems caused by binge drinking at Yale. We expect to finish our work by the end of the year.”
