Carol Reis Whitehead Stern reports:

“Deborah Rose, Rhonda Singer, Georgia June Goldberg and I, all women of the class of ’72, went on the Yale Alumni Service Corps trip to Yamoransa, Ghana in August 2013. Deborah headed up the Public Health Group, overseeing many projects including improving sanitation, prenatal education classes, breast cancer awareness and eyeglass prescription. Rhonda worked in Public Health and distributed several hundred pairs of eyeglasses that were life-changing for members of the Yamoransa community. Georgia taught art classes in the local primary school and worked in construction on the Information Technology Center that is being built by Yale volunteers and the community. I taught “practical math” in the local middle school and did college mentoring in regional high schools and boarding schools. Rhonda, Deborah and Georgia will be returning to Ghana with the Yale Alumni Service Corps early in the summer. Deborah, Georgia and I will be on the Yale Alumni Service Corps trip to Rajasthan, India in August 2014. Sign-up is still open for this service trip to India to volunteer in education, public health, construction and medical projects.”
