AN UPDATE FROM NATHAN WISE (DC):
“Alan Gaby and Nathan Wise, once roommates in Davenport, continue to ‘sing’ the praises of Gilbert & Sullivan in recent pursuits. Alan set the biblical Book of Esther to tunes by Sir Arthur Sullivan for a musical celebration of the Purim holiday at his New Hampshire synagogue, with his entire family in the cast (and Nathan in the audience). Down in Connecticut, Nathan appeared in both ‘The Mikado’ and ‘Patience’ for the pleasure of his oldest family friend, Mr. Joel Freeman ’45W (at 93 years old) in the audience each time. Ten days after ‘Patience,’ Mr. Freeman passed peacefully in his sleep, surrounded by his loving family. (You can read about his career as a chemist, and an opera and Gilbert & Sullivan aficionado, in the obituary in the ’45W Class Notes.)”
