David Wilk Publishes Sam Chauncey’s Book on May Day 1970
December 24, 2015 in Notes, Publications
David Wilk (CC) reports: “I recently had the pleasure and honor of being the publisher of the book, May Day at Yale 1970: Recollections, written by Sam Chauncey, photos by John T. Hill and Tom Strong, with an introduction by Henry Louis ‘Skip’ Gates ’73. We published the hard cover this past spring just in time for the 45th anniversary of Bobby Seale Day. Many members of our class will find this book to be a powerful reminder of one of the more important events among the many that occurred during our time at Yale. The behind-the-scenes stories that Chauncey recounts may surprise you as well. And the photos cannot help but bring back powerful memories of that fraught and exciting time. That edition has sold out, so I am now working on a paperback reprint to be published next spring (2016) and invite class members to email me if you want to purchase copies inscribed by the author: david@prospectapress.com.”
(Editor’s note: Sam Chauncey’s presentation about May Day 1970 was one of the highlights of the recent mini-reunion.)
