This may be the first time that I’ve ever written to the class news, but I decided that a milestone of sorts warranted a quick note. In June, I passed 40 years working for the telephone company as an attorney. I started with the old Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company in 1976, worked with various BellSouth companies after the breakup of the Bell System, and am now working for AT&T since they acquired BellSouth in 2006. It has been an interesting career, and I’m still enjoying working, so I am thinking about another 5 years.
That will be about the time that my now 7 year old grandson will no longer have after-school care at The Westminster Schools, and my daughter has already told me that it will be time for me to retire and become his “manny.” That will be fine with me – I’ve already been trying to convince him that he needs to be in the Yale Class of 2031. I’m hoping to make it to the 45th reunion next year and to bring him with me.
Thanks,
Fred Johnson
