Patrick Miller (CC) writes that he has recently been selected as the Fulbright Bicentennial Distinguished Chair in American Studies at the University of Helsinki for the 2016-2017 academic year. “In Finland I will be teaching courses and presenting lectures principally in my field of African American History and Race Relations — while participating in some conferences and symposia elsewhere in Europe and North Africa.  Perhaps inevitably, I’ll be asked to explain U.S. electoral politics, although I look forward to offsetting that particular challenge by exploring Finland’s lake-filled countryside and running the forest trails:  All part of the adventure.”
