AN OBITUARY: Pamela (Horton) Oliva(1950 – 2018)

Oliva, Pamela (née Horton) of San Clemente, California passed away peacefully January 9, 2018 after a long series of illnesses. Pam was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and true friend. She is survived by her loving husband Larry Oliva of 39 years; daughter Lauren Barber (Ryan) and two grandchildren; daughter Kristen Young, (Kyle); and brothers Jeff Horton and Tim Horton. Pam was born in Los Angeles (1950) and was raised in La Habra, California. She attended Wellesley College and Yale University in the first class of women admitted to that institution. She received her BA from Whittier College and MA in public administration from Long Beach State. She will be sorely missed by all those friends and colleagues who got to know her in Northern Virginia, Walnut Creek, CA, Whittier, CA, and San Clemente, CA. Pam and Larry recently moved to Scottsdale, AZ where Pam was laid to rest in God’s hands. Pam was devoted to her family and community throughout her life. She was active as board member or officer of community organizations including PTA, National Charity League, where she was Whittier chapter president, as well as board member and officer of the National Organization, and the Assistance League of Capistrano Valley, CA. Her love of God, family and friends was unconditional and lasting. A life celebration will be held at Fairhaven Memorial Services, Mission Viejo, California on February 11, 2018 at 2:00pm.
